- ➤ The Whoville Holiday Market opens today at Garrett Coliseum—running through November 23 as shoppers get a chance to find holiday gifts and treats. WSFA 12
- ➤ Mayor Steven Reed with Walmart as major sponsor will host Montgomery's inaugural Turkey Giveaway today at 8:00 a.m. at the Walmart Supercenter on Ann St—residents must remain in their vehicles and follow on-site instructions as supplies last. Montgomery Chamber
- ➤ State Rep. Penni McClammy sponsored a Thanksgiving food giveaway in Montgomery to address local need—volunteers distributed food to support families in the area—ensuring those in need get a meal. WSFA 12
- ➤ Bethany Davis explained that many people lack warm shelter and clothing during cold winter nights as the Mid Alabama Coalition for the Homeless Blanket Drive helps fill that need—inviting local donations. Montgomery residents can donate blankets and clothing—supporting neighbors to stay warm this season. WSFA 12

- ➤ Althea Thomas, a celebrated musician and educator who served as the Dexter Avenue Organist since 1955 under Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., died today at Jackson Hospital—her legacy spans over 60 years of music and teaching in Montgomery. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family. WSFA 12

- ➤ Students and staff from Autauga/Western Elmore Arc visited the Elmore Autauga News office to learn how local news is produced and see behind-the-scenes work in photography and reporting. Their visit is part of the Smith Center program at 298 Jay Street that uses a mock community called Smithville to teach practical life skills. Elmore Autauga News

- ➤ Montgomery Regional Airport is preparing for holiday travel and advises passengers to arrive at least 90 minutes early for check-in — it also urges them to review TSA regulations before departure. WSFA 12
- ➤ Beginning Thanksgiving week, the City of Montgomery’s Sanitation Department is changing its holiday service so that during weeks with a city-observed holiday only green cans are collected on one day and curbside trash is not provided. For example, during Thanksgiving week Monday and Thursday routes will collect green cans on November 24 while Tuesday and Friday routes will run on November 25, and similar changes are planned for Christmas week.
