- ➤ Action 8's Magical Christmas Toy Drive is collecting new unwrapped toys through December 10 to benefit the Salvation Army and support 2,000 local families—Richard Holman of the Shoppes at EastChase said the need has grown over its dozen years of service. WAKA 8
- ➤ Montgomery County held a ceremony on Monday to light its Christmas tree — the event marked a festive start to the holiday season. WSFA 12
- ➤ Action 8 is hosting its 12th annual Magical Christmas Toy Drive to benefit the Salvation Army from now until December 10, with new, unwrapped toys dropped off at the Toy Vault (Shoppes at EastChase, left of Books-a-Million). Kippy Paige from Signs Now said the drive has grown each year as more donations support local families. WAKA 8
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Seventy years ago on December 1, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus—an act that challenged segregation and spurred the civil rights movement. Her defiant stance has continued to inspire change and remembrance in our community. WSFA 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Alabama’s official state Christmas tree for 2025, an Eastern Red Cedar donated by the Ray Allen family from Fitzpatrick, was delivered to the state Capitol on Monday at noon. It will be slowly decorated with about 40,000 lights and ornaments—culminating in a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. WSFA 12
- ➤ A state representative announced a plan to let 11th graders in Montgomery Public Schools fly to New York City and Washington to learn beyond the classroom. The trip, continuing an annual tradition, is scheduled for a school break later this year to broaden student experience. WSFA 12
