CULTURE NEWS

  • At Montgomery city hall on Monday night, dozens gathered for Hanukkah’s second evening with candle lighting, song, and refreshments while honoring victims of an overseas attack; Mayor Reed tied the celebration to the city’s civil rights legacy.  WSFA 12
  • Visitors attended the annual Christmas Candlelight tours at the Governor’s Mansion Monday, where festive lights and historic charm celebrated the holiday season. The tradition returns each year to delight guests with a unique holiday display.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System celebrated 85 years of service at the Perry Hill Road campus on Monday, Dec. 15 with a ceremony (10 a.m.) honoring veterans, staff, and community partners who supported the facility over many years.  WSFA 12

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a day of practice, Jacksonville State explored Montgomery in a friendly scrimmage as preparation for Tuesday’s Salute to Veterans Bowl at the Cramton Bowl. Coaches from Troy + Jacksonville State are aiming for a season-clinching win.  WSFA 12
  • Bill Clark, known for his success with Prattville and UAB, was honored as the IS4S Bowl's 2025 Alabama Football Legend at a luncheon on Thursday ahead of Friday night's game at Cramton Bowl between Troy and Jacksonville State. This recognition highlights his career achievements in Alabama football.  WAKA 8
  • Senior Avery Dunnam became the first Lee-Scott Academy student to sign a college volleyball scholarship and will play for Faulkner University in Montgomery after competing with the Southern Region All-Star team in Madison and being named to the Opelika Auburn News All-Area First Team.  WAKA 8
