- ➤ River Region United Way and the Salvation Army partnered Tuesday to aid families displaced by the Woodley Terrace fire (which claimed three lives, including two children) by collecting clothing, shoes, and household items. - ➤ Jefferson County is set to redevelop Hallmark Farm into the Alabama Farm Center using an $11 million state grant to reclaim a 500-acre former mining site; the project will create 850 jobs and host rodeos, livestock shows, concerts + more. AL.com

- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey announced on Dec. 29 that Alabama secured more than $203 million for the Rural Health Transformation Program to boost rural health improvements.
