- ➤ Spencer Thomas, a 57-year-old suspect from Prattville, was arrested on May 27 in Las Vegas for his role in the armed robbery and assault of dry-cleaning businessman Jim Massey III on March 10 — he now faces federal charges. WSFA 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The 36th annual Kids Count Data Book (tracking data through 2023) shows that Alabama fell to 43rd in child well-being as education scores dropped and more kids lost health insurance (4% up from 3%), while small gains were seen in family and community measures, prompting calls for more investments in health care and affordable housing. - ➤ Katherine Robertson, chief counsel for the current attorney general, will announce her bid to run for state AG today in Birmingham—she joins other candidates in a race that includes former Associate Justice Jay Mitchell and district attorney Pamela Casey with the primaries set for May 19.
